VSI was established in 1990 with the mission to provide high quality validation and technical services to the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical device industries. Since that time VSI has expanded its services and gained experience working with a wide range of projects and the diverse needs of its clients.

The first VSI office was opened in 1990 in Santa Clara, California in the heart of the biotechnology and high-tech industries of Silicon Valley. In 1994, VSI opened an office in San Diego California to meet the growing needs of Southern California. VSI San Diego is situated in Sorrento Valley and provides support to the San Diego area, Orange County and Southern Los Angeles.

In 1995, VSI added laboratory testing services to its validation technical services rounding out the capabilities of VSI as a full-service validation and laboratory testing company. In order to accommodate the increase in capabilities and space requirements, VSI moved headquarters to a larger office in the City of Palo Alto California.
